Make this candidate question fair game

We have noticed in the Republican Primary for Governor, the same question from the media to the candidates which states, “What would you cut from state government?”   It seems, every Republican candidate is asked to balance the entire state budget right there on stage.   Any tax cut suggested must come with an equal dollar-for-dollar budget cut while ignoring the fact that tax cuts bring in more tax revenue (as the nation witnessed quite dramatically after the 2017 tax cuts by Congress).

The question is fair, as long as the Democratic and liberal candidates get asked how they would pay for their new programs.   Liberals candidates have a government solution for every problem, but the price tag is rarely questioned.

Even worse, Governor Kotek has been proposing the governor’s budget ahead of each 2-year Legislative Session, and it always includes a wish list of programs but never explains how they would be paid.
