Politicians have found a way to dis-empower and disenfranchise voters.

By controlling their political district boundaries and getting to decide which voters they wish have in their district has become a political tool to insulate them from the voters they serve.  Political gerrymandering is a centuries old abuse of the system.  No wonder politicians witness a near 99% re-election rate nationwide.

Oregon’s Senate President has been in office since President Jimmy Carter was in power.

The best solution to restoring citizen accountability is to put citizens in charge of political district boundaries.  The People Not Politicians petition does just that.  It also requires representation from Oregon’s political parties — not the system we have now which allows a single political party to make the decision for the rest of the state.
