Sen. Boquist: Teachers mask dilemma, fighting Covid fund fraud

ON QUORUM (Texas & Oregon): In Texas, Republicans do not see that they are setting the trap to get rid of the constitutional protest to deny quorum. “Conservative” media are playing right into the leftist agenda. When a state is under super majority control by one party; like how Oregon is under control of the leftists, the minority party can protest legislation by denying quorum. When quorum is not met, legislators cannot get together to vote to pass bills. Oregon Republicans denied quorum a handful of times, most notably in 2019 to kill the insidious cap and trade legislation that the dictator governor ended up passing through executive order. Hard to believe this is a defense of Democrats, but here we are. Texas Democrats denied quorum against an elections bill, and Republican governor Greg Abbott is calling for their arrest. This is reminiscent of Oregon Gov. Kate Brown’s actions in 2019. She sent law enforcement after 11 Senate Republicans when they denied quorum. On the federal level, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) is calling for the Democrats who denied quorum to be arrested as well.Demands for arrest are indicative of totalitarian governments that do not value the contributions of the minority party. Dressed in fancy talking points, politicians say denying quorum threatens American government, but the opposite is true. Quorum rules exist to protect the minority from the dictatorial rule of the majority.Now Texas is deputizing its law enforcement to bring back rogue Democrats. In Oregon, law enforcement was deputized to try and control rabid rioters in 2020 – there is a distinct difference. The Texas Democrats are operating within their constitutional rights; rioters were breaking the law.
