Cheri Helt: Long overdue to pump our own gas

Cheri Helt for Labor Commissioner statement: “This is the second time, in the last two years, that the mandatory fuel attendant law has been suspended due to safety risks for employees. (Pump your own gas: Oregon’s no self-serve rule suspended for heat wave) It’s time to overturn this law for good, and focus Oregon’s efforts on making training opportunities available for these employees that provide a living wage. The BOLI Commissioner can expand out apprenticeships, and on the job training, for safe, stable, higher wage jobs… And it’s long overdue! Stay cool out there Oregon!”
