By Taxpayer Association of Oregon Foundation,
Rite Aid has been closing over 100 stores in big cities in America thanks, in part, to runaway retail theft.
Hard-hit crime area, Portland downtown saw their Rite-Aid close last year.
In NE Portland, the Rite Aid pharmacy closed. Not only is theft a problem, but pharmacies in Oregon have to deal with the Corporate Activities Tax which hits pharmacies especially hard since it taxes revenue instead of profits, and pharmacies are a thin margin profit industry. This is why the entire Bi-Mart pharmacy chain went under after Oregon’s CAT tax passage. This means the liberal utopia of high taxes is directly hurting seniors access to medication.
