“Street takeovers” new trend in lawlessness

Over New Year’s weekend, Portland saw several neighborhoods where streets were taken over by flash mobs and street racers.

KGW-TV reports,

Portland Police also report that they were present and nearly two dozen vehicles were towed, 19 arrests, 13 citations and 7 guns seized.

Sometimes these street takeovers result in mobs of people looting stores like they did this convenience store last year. We previously reported “Vagrants gathered and took over a Portland City street to do drag racing. Police were called and said they couldn’t respond. The mass gathering of people grew and even stormed a local convenience store where people stole $15,000 worth of goods in just 20 minutes.”
